Grand Central
Central Otago is an area of extremes in both landscape and weather. It has many picturesque mountains and lakes, is seriously cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Branding for 'Grand Central', a new beer brewed in Cromwell, depicted both its gold mining heritage and associated railway as well as its weather and landscape extremes. The logo and colours' of the branding represent the old Central Otago Railway which linked the mining town but also the dramatic geographic and weather patterns of the area. The font was also developed specifically for this project, responding to the shape of the letters G and C, the shape of tunnels and the tops of beer glasses. This created a distinct language forming a compositional foundation for the brand, representing the area where the beer is made.
